Trying to install WinCC Flexible 2008 DVD on Windows Vista Ultimate

RPG Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi, I used WinCC Flexible 2008 on Windows Vista Ultimate, but had a problem and now I'm trying to install WinCC Flexible 2008 DVD on the same OS, but it's only possible on Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7. The installation program reports I install WinCC on my risk and with no support (on Win Vista Ultimate). Does anybody know about any problem on taht OS??? I don't have any panel to try it, and have to travel next week and use it. I've just seen there is a HF1 for SP2. Thank you in advance. Raul P.

Read here http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22055368 according to this compatibility list Windows Vista Ultimate is compatible with WinCC Flexible 2008, but only 32-bit version of this operating system is compatible. No exceptions. No questions.

RPG Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Yes, I know compatibility lists, but installation programs doesn't allows to install a program if it's not compatible, but in this case, with WinCC Flexible 2008 SP2 and Windows Vista Ultimate (no compatibility) it was possible to install, showing a message "it's possible to install but on your own risk with no support", so I tried and finally it worked. I have no support, but I'm using the program correctly. NOTE: Update1 for SP2 was installed. RPG

You will never get support I think for that configuration just because it is not in compatibility list with SP2. If honestly I don't understand why SP1 is supported, but SP2 is not ? It is newer service pack and it should have backward compatibility, but it seems that Siemens decided other way.

Not only because Windows 7 is a much better operating system, but also because most Simatic Software is either available for Windows 7 or will be available soon (WinCC V7.0.2, Step 7 Prof 2010). You take a risk in using it under Windows Vista. I personally wouldn't like to be stuck somewhere on site with a PC with WinCC flexible which doesn't work properly and with a configuration which isn't supported by it's manufacturer. regards, Gerard

Not only because Windows 7 is a much better operating system, but also because most Simatic Software is either available for Windows 7 or will be available soon (WinCC V7.0.2, Step 7 Prof 2010). Why you suggesting things like that ? First it costs extramoney, second, we talk about live system and its not possible to wait while Siemens releases updates and service packs which will allow to use windows 7. It was not good suggestion. Better is to suggest to downgrade to windows xp which will cost nothing and you will get 100% support.
