How to make PLC backup if some blocks are protected?

RAM81 Silver Member Joined: 3/3/2008 Last visit: 4/9/2025 Posts: 333 Rating: (52)	hi you need to get the password from the OEM and use simatic manager to upload the project with the help of the password. then you can reset the password in the CPU and download the same so that the protection levels are removed, but if the blocks are protected try to consult the oem before doing any modfications, the protection can be done for some safety measures. with regards ram

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, I don't agree with ram81, I've backed up loads of plc's in 840D with blocks protected by Siemens or the code writer which I can't read in s7 but series startup still backs them up. It's a waste of space if it can't. Maybe try it with the plc in stop. Most problems I find in back up is the the HMI version doesn't match the nck version and so receives code it doesn't understand..
