Microsoft Text Field: can't read the entered value in the I/O field

The prob I am facing with the I/O field is that I have made the I/O field property Field Type as Input. Now I canot read the entered value in the I/O field byusing belowfunctions: GetPropDouble(lpszPictureName, lpszObjectName, "OutputValue") also below is not possible: GetPropDouble(lpszPictureName, lpszObjectName, "InputValue") The above functions always return zero value. If there is some other function like: GetPropChar.. etc please let me know. Regards, Raheel

I assume the IOField question is unrelated to the above so have asked the moderator to split this into another thread. It's best not to post more than one query in one thread. What exactly are you trying to do? Usually I would create an internal tag and link it to the IOFields Output Value property. So changes made to the IOField are written to the tag. You can then read the tag from your script, if you need to. Will this work for you ? If you must use a script, you must understand how the IOField object works. Effectively an IOField consists of two objects - an input field and an output field. You enter the value into the input field which is then automatically copied to the output field and displayed back on the screen. That is why sometimes there is a delay between you typing in a value and it actually appearing on the screen. Note that there is no InputValue property. This means that you cannot access this property directly from a script. The only way to determine the value entered is to use the InputValue Event Script or a Direct Connect. So with this information you should be able to see why your scripting is not working and how to correctly program this functionality. FYI: There arefour GetPropXXX functions which can be found in the function browser under Internal Functions -> Graphics -> Get -> Property. The functions will read any property from any object and you use the one that matches the properties data type.

Yes the I/O field should be a separate thread, someone ask for the explanation so I thought to discuss it here. The option for internal tags is feasible where we have single operator station, in my case I have several operator stations, so it wouldbe difficultto make internal tags individually on all or copy the project on all the stations. So I have made a global array stack in which I tried to store the value temporarily, and this value will be transferred to the tag on a button press. By using OutputValue Event Script, it is not possible for me to read through the I/O field.It would be nice if someone would define the method to do so in another thread [:D] Below I have created a small global function for checking weather the string entered in the Microsoft TextBox is a number or a string: BOOL is_digit(char* str) { int str_len, i; str_len = strlen(str); for (i = 0; i < str_len; i++) { if (!isdigit(str[i])) return FALSE; else return TRUE; } } Thanks again for the added information.

If you make the internal tag "Computer local update" then each operator station will have it's own local copy of the tag [:D] (Of course thiswill not work with WebNavigator, only normal WinCC clients) 2. You need to use the InputValue Event script to get the value entered. Remember that you are changing the Input Value and not the Output Value. If an IOField is set to Input then there is no Output Value to readas the input value is not passed to the output value property. What do you think? Will this work? P.S. Thanks for posting your function Hey there! For this to work with WebNavigator as well you could use objetcs such as Static Texts as data holders. Instead of updating the internal tag what you'd do is send the information to the data holder. Best regards, Danielle

This is all about verifying the input data, modifying and return it back into OutputValue. The rules are: check for S7 Address syntax; If the syntax is correct then convert to upper cases, remove extraneous spaces andleading 0s (if any) and write back to OutputValue. If the syntax is wrong don't changeanything just modify the FontColor(red) and write a tool-tip with an error message (see attachment in the post) [:P] Dec
