IP242 in S7 400

safety4ever Experienced Member Joined: 12/5/2006 Last visit: 9/23/2025 Posts: 73 Rating: (4)	As we are considering a migration of a system having some of those old IP242 cards, I was reading in the FAQ's that the IP242 is one of the modules that could be directly used in a 400 rack using FC 185 and the special S5 Adapter for the S7 400 rack, and this part is clear. I was not sure if this card would have to be represented in the HW configuration as I could not see any HW related to S5 in the HW catalog of the 400 components. So how would this card be represented in the Slots in the HW config.

safety4ever Experienced Member Joined: 12/5/2006 Last visit: 9/23/2025 Posts: 73 Rating: (4)	Thank you for your answer, when you say configure the only possibility would be to add S7 and S5 address area, now I am not sure if the S5 address area would be the SSNR in this case input only or IP/OP do you know how many bytes in length. Unfortunately the only information on the web site I found was the FAQ about FC 185 and FC183, not sure if there aresome more further resources somewhere. Best regards
