Dat@Workbook keeps connecting and hanged

kee Posts: 93 Rating: (4)	Hi, I've installed Dat@Monitor Client and Server into my WinCCV6.0 sp4 on WinXPsp2. After setting the Dat@Workbook wizard, when I'm connecting the Dat@Workbook (WinCC project in Runtime), it's hanged at "Connection Establishment" Can anyone tell me what to do next! regards kee

Or are you using DataWorkbook on a second computer ? · In the DataWorkbook window is the server name, user name and password correct ? · Make sure the Windows Firewall is disabled. You do this from Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. · If the"Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Service" is installed then ensure itis disabled. Check this at Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

I've connected Excel and WinCC via Dat@monitor, but how can i make Dat@monitor reads online alarm messages, tag logging? example: While signal tripped online or measured values changed, is Dat@monitor able to show the new value in connected excel sheet (on-line). kee

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Hi kee I'm happy it's working. Can you let us know what fixed it in case someone else has the same problem ? Unfortunately DataMonitor cannot read alarm and tag logging data continuously. This would create too much of a load on the network and webserver so the feature has not been implemented. All youcan do is cyclically read current tag values. As a simple workaround (involving no programming [:D]) why not use the DataSymphony tool included in DataMonitor. This is the tool that allows you to show the WinCC graphics in Internet Explorer. So : - create a PDL that just shows an alarm control - publish it to the webusing WebPublisher - set this screen as the start screen for you webuser - open IE, connect to DataMonitor to show your alarm picture - resize IE to fit into the top or bottom part of your screen and resize Excel to appear in the remainder of the window. - this way you can see when a new alarm occurs in the IE window and then press the refresh button in Excel to load the new alarm into Excel I know this is not very elegant but it is simple and requires no programming. Failing that you would have to create an event-based reporting system using the Connectivity Pack and scripting in WinCC or Excel.
