Tool wear offset entry

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello Experts, Recently new CNC lathe with 802D controller is installed in our shop.In our case, opertor wants to make entry in tool wear offset parameter diameterally. Means suppose if the measured diameter is found plus by 1 mm, he wants to enter tool wear offset parameter as 1 mm, so that the diameter will be reduced by 1 mm only. Presently if he enters the value 1, then diameter is reduced by 2 mm. i.e. the value enetred in tool wear offset is considered as radial value by controller instead of diameter. Can any one help me to solve above problem? Thanks in advance. DEEP.

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (485)	Hello Deep... The values in the user area OFFSET in the tool list's column for wear are taken into account as radius values as a standard setting. This is defined by the machine data 20360 TOOL_PARAMETER_DEF_MASK. Meaning: Bit 0=0: With turning tools, the wear parameter of the transverse axis X is taken into account as a radius value. Bit 0=1: With turning tools, the wear parameter of the transverse axis X is taken into account as a diameter value. Check it out.... Regards, Ekalavya

If you want to change you set up line on this parameter and then push button „SELECT”. You will see bit selection menu and then simply select bit 0. You can see this on my attachment. Meaning when bit is set ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bit 0: (LSB):For turning and grinding tools, the wear parameter of the transverse axis is allowed for as diameter value. Bit 1:For turning and grinding tools, the tool length component of the transverseaxis is allowed for as diameter value. Bit 2:If a wear component or a length component is allowed for as diameter value,the tool may be used only in the plane that was active when the tool wasselected. A plane change leads to an alarm. Bit 3:Zero offsets in frames in the transverse axis are allowed for as diametervalue.Bit 4:PRESET value is allowed for as diameter value Bit 5:Allow for external zero offset in the transverse axis as diameter value Bit 6:Read actual values of the transverse axis as diameter value (AA_IW, AA_IEN,AA_IBN, AA_IB, caution: but not AA_IM) Bit 7:Display of all actual values of the transverse axis as diameter value independentof the G code of group 29 (DIAMON / DIAMOF) Bit 8:Display of the distance-to-go in the WCS always as radius Bit 9:During DRF handwheel travel of a transverse axis, only half the distance ofthe specified increment is traveled (on the condition that $MN_HANDWHEEL_TRUE_DISTANCE = 1).
