Error on GSD installation

Wasp Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Hi All I am currently involved in a new project which requires that 8 Lenze Servo Positioners be connected via Profibus. During installation of the GSD file for the particular Profibus DP I experienced the following error: ------------------ Beginning: 2/10/2011 12:09:28 PM Source directory: C:\PROGRAMME\SIEMENS\STEP7\S7TMP Target computer: PROJEKTNOTEBOOK User: WHF File: LENZ2133.GSD Status: Not installed. Error while verifying GSD file. ------------------- My setup is as follows: OS: Windows XP Professional SP3 Profibus DP: LENZE 2133IB Simatic Manager V5.4 + SP1 The GSD file was obtained from the Lenze website: http://akb.lenze.de/akb/infopool.nsf/html/index-suche I have attempted to install from different locations and have looked for alternative dowloads for the GSD file, however, with no luck. Could anyone suggest the possible cause for this error and/or even an alternative download site for the GSD installation file. Warm Regards

Unzip the GSD file in folder in advance. I think the GSD file is OK. (I could send you mine but I don't think this is the problem). Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Wasp Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Hi UMENCHO Thanks for the quick response... Have closed all Simatic windows as suggested, and unzipped the folder. I then created a new project for the purpose of installing the gsd file into the catalog, sadly still the same error. One thing I noticed is that I get a syntax error when clicking on the file I want to install, not sure what this means but am assuming it has something to do with the GSDML version in use. Then you can install GSD file. how do you integrate a GSD file into the STEP 7 HW Config for PROFIBUS or PROFINET? See point 2!!!! Best regards, Wizard

I will try to upgrade my servicepack as suggested by UMENCHO, am just having a few issues with available space on the system drive at the moment.... fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 9/14/2025 Posts: 3049 Rating: (1062)	Hello Wasp Not too sure what's wrong, the LENZ2133.GSD imports fine when I try it (with Step 7 V5.5) Interestingly enough though, PI's GSD Editor is"complaining" about the LENZ2133.GSD file (see attached pic) and perhaps your Step 7 version does apply different check and rejects it because of this(a simple test wouldbe to change the"GSD_Revision" from1 to 2, note that you'll need to re-import the GSD file into Step 7 afterwards). Alternatively, use the LEN_2133.GSD file, this one has the added advantage that it supports DPV1 (and also works with my Step 7 V5.5). Wasp Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Hi All I have upgraded my Step 7 software version from V5.4 SP1 to V5.4 SP5 and the GSD file installs without any problems. After reading through some of the added features incorporated into the service pack I found that the GSDML (Generic Station Description Markup Language) version is upgraded as part of the added features. I assume this was the initial problem as I previously mentioned that I was getting a syntax error when clicking on the GSD file during the installation proceedure, this would also account for the fact that it worked without any problems when you installed with V5.5. Thanks for the quick response time and all the help. You guys are doing a great job and I hope to be able to contribute to the forum in the future once my Siemens knowledge is a bit more extensive.
