WinCC OPC Client is not reacting to fast trigger of points

kee Posts: 93 Rating: (4)	Hi All, I'm using OPC.chn (OPC DA Client) connected to an third party OPC DA Server. When fast toggering of binary input are not able to recognise(captured) by WinCC. Is there anywhere I could configure and set the OPC.chn parameters? My project needs to detect fast information. btw, My OPC DA Server is configured quence buffer (per tag) as 50, and min interval as 20ms. K

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, The fastest update is 250 ms (on change). In my opinion you can therfore mis updates if they occur within 250 ms. For the S7 channel it's different, cause you can there use the on event change, which means it's triggered from the plc. I don't know of any solution for this. (please correct me if I'm wrong, or when you think you have a solution). with regards, Ikkezelf

kee Posts: 93 Rating: (4)	Hi ikkezelf, Is the "uponchange" trigger is much fast/sensitive to the "250ms"? I understand that "250ms" trigger can be set on the graphic (e.g: Sq box), but how does the "250ms" scan related to the alarm logging? getting blur....[:blush:] k

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Hi K Again, a common misconception [:D] "Upon Change" should only be used if the PLC can send the data to WinCC. This is different from WinCC polling the PLC for data.I believe only S7-400's can do this (of course there may be others). So a general guideline is : - always use Upon Change for internal tags - never use Upon Change for external tags Finally I believe that the alarm logging system cannot poll faster than 500ms. Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Alarm logging update speed can be set in the registry if I'm not mistaken. But please be carefull when fumbling around with the registry (always create a backup first.) And I would not change the update speed of the alarm logging, cause it's not supported. For my projects I use S7-400 plcs with the upon change setting for the external tags. with regards, Ikkezelf

kee Posts: 93 Rating: (4)	Hi guys, Problem solved! The problem was caused by the configuration of OPC Server. Some OPC server needs to configure the point (tag) as event quening, once this feature is enable, Client will automatically able to receive the sequence of Q-up tags... Thanks guys! K
