Using that I did not get the shared folder \\CAS\Archivedir\. Can someone tell me if I can manually share some existing folder and will it be enough to get CAS to work or do I have to recover a clean Win2003 and install CAS from the PCS7 DVD (v7.1+SP1)? Splitted from Central Archive Server / StoragePlus notes.

ABN Posts: 212 Rating: (12)	hi, Its recom. that to install fresh instance. Archive Dir share folder is created automatically during installation. This folder is created when installation asks for a popup to create certain directories for storing backup and log files. User is requested only to change drive name and not the path naame. If by chance you are required to reinstall the CAS, then what u can do is, keep the path same as that of earlier CAS installation and even drive name (c or d or e) same as previous installation and you can find the shared folder intact. I did it several times it worked. Even if not working then re-install the entire thing. In that case you can manually remove all simatic components from the Computer using "add remove Programs" and can begin with fresh CAS installation w/o reformatting OS. Kindly post ur comments and observations...

I doubleclicked that one and it started a red commandprompt that gave file access errors. Then I restarted the computer, stopped the SQL-service and started "CAS initialize" again. This time it did open a pop-up asking for storage folders and some databasenames (I used the suggested ones), then it started the simatic security control and after that it was done. The "CAS initialize"-icon had now disappeared from the desktop and ArchiveDir was now created as a shared folder. (did not find anything in the manuals about that icon though)

ABN Posts: 212 Rating: (12)	hi this case should be reported. I also never came across to such cases. In fact it clearly mentions that path shall not be changed only drive name shall be changed. you are lucky....that no required of redo of whole system
