Migration from PCS7 V7.0 to PCS7 V7.1

Amit_86 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Dear All, In one of my PCS7 Project Customer wants upgradation from PCS7 V7.0 to PCS7 V7.1. Following are mu doubts regarding migration. 1)how to order upgrade License? i have 1 ES & 2 OS. 2)is there any migration tool available for Conversion? 3)In PCS7 V7.0 WinCC version is V6.2 & in PCS&V7.1 WinCC Version is 7.0. Now most of the block icon for pump,motor,Valves are customized in my ruuning Project.So will they get migrated automatically or not? Thanks in advance.

Yoga Shankar Posts: 288 Rating: (22)	Dear Amit, Firstly, the licences that you need will have to be of UPGRADE type. this will simply give you authorisation for V7.1. The number of PO's and archive tags will remain same. Secondly, migrating a project will upgrade and change the back end of PCS7. The front end, meaning the block icons, faceplates and pictures which have been customised will not be altered automatically

Dear Amith well ya your PO and archive tag will remain unchanged, But i think you will need to re compile your entire CFC charts as it shall be upgraded to new version. Please note that even siemens blocks shall be upgraded to new version. Well you can still create your own customize icon. Please take a back up before doing the upgrade. Have fun....

ABN Posts: 212 Rating: (12)	hi to eveyone the nos. of tags required totally depends on if with change is version you want to move from normal PCS7 libarary to PCS7 library. in normal PCS7 library no of tags consumed / PO are less than that of in APL. So, decide first if you want to go ahead with APL or not.. if you dont want to change in library then what you need only upgrade licenses. only one suggestion, before upgardating plz make a compatibilty matrix of all components involved else you will trouble in future....all the best...

Hi Amit, here is the Detail Steps for Software update with utilization of new functions (PCS 7 V6.x or higher to V7.1)

Hi, It is really Big work when you try to convert from old version of PCS7 to new Version. & some time Simply Update is not work 100%. & also in each new version Library is updated every time, with new Extra Feature, some time I fell that it is better if we write progarme with new version....

Jazz_M Posts: 1121 Rating: (86)	Hi well once i had to update PCS 7 v 7.0 to 7.1 but when i did that there was an error that CH_AI blocks can not be compiled. I even tried updating, But not possible. sam error. I raised it through support request but still i had the problem. Then i took the project migrated it to PCS7 v 7.1 got the error that was in the site. then i copied all the pcs7 basic library blocks used in the project and paste it in the block folder of the my project and said yes to all. Then i went to cfc and said update blocks types in options. and updated all the block call in my project . After that i compiled with out any error and download the project in the cpu. Hey Amit_86 this is just small tip that it did. Have fun....
