Hello oldfalg; A switched power supply, such as can be found in your PC, includes an electronic circuit called a chopper (or switching regulator, this is the switched part). It is better regulated than a standard power supply (only analog circuits used, condensors, diode bridge....) but produces a squarewave output that contains harmonics that can damage unfiltered circuits it powers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switched-mode_power_supply hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
