Multi Panels and MS SQL

Is there any way that an MP (e.g MP277) couldread tags from an external PC's MS SQL database? Also is it possible that an MP writes tags to an external PC's MS SQL database? I did understand that the WinCC Flexible running on a PC can do both read and write. Isthe OPC server neccesary in that case? Any clarification will be deeply appreciated!

Hi, You could reach SQL with a script from Flexible. It really works, only I'm not so sure about accessing SQL on network locations, but this also should be possible once Connection string is made correctly. You could find good info on accessing SQL with a script here How do you access an SQL database in WinCC flexible via a script? Next reading has lots of info on configuring panel for network access How do you integrate an HMI operator panel into a local network? If everything is done correctly you should be able to do what you want.
