using ibaPDA-S7-Analyzer

MK86 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello fritz, I see that you are familiar with ibaPDA-S7-Analyzer. I have a question for you. For our client, we are logging some data (digital and analog values/signals). My collegue had set up the configuration. Couple of days later he changed the hardware configuration in SIMATIC Manager and made a download while the data was being logged. And now something strange has happened. The file which was created by ibaPDA-S7-Analyzer has a size of 580 Kb and seems it contents some data. But when we open the file, there are no signals to see, they are all are flat. In another words, we don't see any pulses or something else which tells us about health of the system. Another strange thing is that the file has a size of 580 Kb. So why don't we see any data while the size of the file 580 Kb? Has the download affected the data logging? If not, why can't I see any data? Could you please help me or anyone else?

And there 2 settings in I/O manager of ibaPDA: Disconnect TCP/IP connections after x seconds of inactivity (in General settings) and Set all values to zero when the connection to an S7 is lost (in S7-Analyzer settings). So check this settings in your configuration, this may be the reason of zero signals.

fritz Diamond Member Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/18/2026 Posts: 3054 Rating: (1062)	Hello MK86 further to KSN's suggestions, I can tell you that dat files will still (have to) grow in size even if you don't get values anymore from your aquisition anymore (put simple, the dat file willcontinue to keep track of the number of samples that exists in it). Due to the lossless compression that is used to store values in dat files, they will though be considerably smaller than ones wherevalues do change frequently, so the question is:What is a "normal" dat file sizein your application? I hope this helps
