ArchiveLogFile to networked storage

mortenfj Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I want to store my audittrail logs and other logs (AuditTrail, AlarmArchive, SysAlarmLog and Trend log) to a remove drive via simple windows shares (samba shares), andit works very well. the script goes as follows: StopLogging hmiAuditTrailLog,"AuditTrail" CloseAllLogs ArchiveLogFile hmiAuditTrailLog,"AuditTrail","\\RemotePC\logs",hmiMove OpenAllLogs StartLogging hmiAuditTrailLog,"AuditTrail" My problem is if the network gets disconnected, the logs are simply "moved" but not to anywhere. They just get eraced with no error or warning or retry or anything. Thats not ideal if i you want to maintain consistant data. how can i ensure the data is not moved if the network drive if offline?? i tried: Dim fs Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") If(fs.FolderExists(" \\RemotePC\logs") = True) Then But i get an error when trying to do : "Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")" Any help will be very much appreciated /Mortenfj!

Maybe this could be helpful for you. (Under the theme "archive" there are somesample which scripting.....) regards,

mortenfj Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello The Brain, thank you for your help. but as i see it, they are using the "CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")" that is not awailable to me under windows CE, i get an error when trying to use"CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")"command. What im working on now is trying to read from the evene/alert/error logs if the opperation was successfull, and bassed on that i will know if it has gone ok or not. but so fare i have had no luck reading those logs from the script. /Mortenfj

The Brain Posts: 1611 Rating: (121)	Hi, i mean the info in the faq are correct. Did you note the different syntax info between "PC Runtime" and "MP277". In the doc file there are listed two "screens" depend which system the user use. TheMP277 Touch has CE System so it works! Maybe you should open the MP277 project and look there for the code. regards,

mortenfj Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello The Brain, i discovered that theArchiveLogFile function keeps track of data, if something is not written it will try again later (every 300s) untill the data is stored. So there is little to no chance of any data getting lost. so if the networked storage device is removed for a time, it will store data once it is put back on the network. If the "ArchiveLogFile" had been properly documented i would have found this out with in 10 minutes. So all is well again, and my data is and will remain safe. Thank you for the fast and kompetant help
