How to make backup of Simatic S5 FLASH-modules

StevenF. Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello I'm about to make backup of 2 Simens Simatic S5 Flash modules: 6ES5-3742KG21 (128 KB / 16 Bit) 6ES5-3742KL2 (2 MB / 16 Bit) What will it take for me to do this? What equipment, software, cables and adapters are required? Thanks in advance Regards Steven

Wijekoon Posts: 59 Rating: (2)	Dear Stev You can use siemens field PG for teke backup form your flash card. you can direct insert that card to PG and then can get backup using S5 Win software. or if you have flash card with CPU you can use laptop with XP and S5 win soft ware. This way you have to youse S5 cable ( tty to 232 or USB) Best Regards

The PG is running Windows 2000 and Step 5/ST V7.1 is installed (running in DOS-mode). Can I use this setup for the backup-operation, or do i need S5 for windows? Is the process similar to reading/blowing epromms with Step 5? Thanks again. Regards Steven

StevenF. Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Why do i need the adapter (i have it though)? The PG has a pcmcia-port in which the flash-module will go directly into. I can't seem the find the correct operation in the Step 5 program to do the backup. I have the manual but can't find anything there either. Any advice would be helpfull!
