Copy screens between two projects

fschwa Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have a problem with WinCC 2008 flexible. I have been working on an existing project for a few weeks now. Yesterday my colleague gave me another version where yet another colleague has made many changes during the last month. Now I want to copy all the screens he changed into my project. I opened two instances of WinCC and used ProjA->copy ... ProjB->replace so that everything that is already there, is replaced (and no copy created). The thing is: it's slow. When copying one folder with seven screens in it, I wait four to seven hours for WinCC to recover. In between it is not responding at all. After that time, screens that did not exist are created, but screens that existed are not replaced by the new ones. Am I trying it the wrong way? I want to try the "create library" way (as described in the FAQ) later today or tomorrow (depends on when WinCC will have finished the current operation) but wanted to hear opinions before. Hope this help Hi, I read that page and was going to try the decribed procedures. Since it takes that long here, it is not done in a day or two, though. However, I solved one of the issues. The screens that had not been changed when overwritten, were ... erm ... graphic blocks (roughly translated from German). As soon as I copied those over as well, everything was fine. :) Now it seems that the rest is just a matter of copying and waiting. My boss is going to give me a new laptop, so the waiting part should become history soon. Thanks for your answer.

However, I did it by first copying all the variables, then I "simple copied" (roughly translated from German) all the screens and copied all the "image blocks" (rough translation again). After that I fixed the remaining missing variables that got lost somehow and all was done. Interestingly after finishing the generation process got way faster again. Now a complete generation (after removing temp files) takes about one hour instead of the 5+ hours it took before. Thanks for the help. :) Regards /edit: format
