EHRA Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, Please some one tell me if I use a third part hardware to connect with Siemens PLC I require a GSD file to include in Hardware configuration, where this third party GSD will be saved after downloading the program and configuration to PLC. wether it will be saved in CF card or any other memory location in PLC Regards, EHRA.

Hello EHRA which third party GSD file your using wther it communicate with prfibus..? if so go to hardware in right navigator prfibus DP-->general subfolder installed GSD stored here Drag and drop it hard ware configuration.

Hello , GSD contains basic configuration of a DP Slave such as permissible baud rate,number of byte of I/O to exchange with the master and other parameters.While configuring the slave in STEP7 via HW.Config.all related data stored in SDBs.Find more informationHEREand SDBs are stored in Load memory of target CPU.Also check the attachment. How can you obtain an overview of the memory concept of SIMATIC S7-300 CPUs and C7 devices? System data is part of user program and in certain circumstances it can be deleted from the load memory.It is necessary then to download the program again to the module. Best regards Hamid Hosseini

Regards, EHRA hi, hi after master reset it will not format CF card and your GSD file remain as it is load memory is on CPU it self not on CF card ,CF card is means whenever you start PLC it will boot program from this card placed in RAM with which it works,when PLC is comes in run mode you can remove card it will work(but do not make this exercise it is not recomended)it may damage some time CF card viral patel

If you do not get GSD files from any website then contact directly to company whom device you are using. Last time I also faced the same problem, I couldn't get some GSD files. Finally I contact to supplier & they sent us the GSD files. You can also do that.
