3RW40 Softstarter

Scorpio31 Posts: 47 Rating: (8)	Hi, What is special pump Stop function in a softstarter? Can i use 3RW40 for pump application. Motor rating of Pump 250KW, 4Pole and Total ON and OFF around 15-20 times in a day. Pls suggest.

What I did - put a drive instead of starter. A little bit more expensive than starter. What I achieved: 1. regulation of the water level. 2. Pums almost never work on "max". (low consumption of electricity) 3. Reduced Start/Stop cycles. 4. Basically is working less number of pumps on the same time. (low consumption of electricity). Like an drive I am using ABB880 but you can go with Sinamics S120 for example too. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Since, we have a lot of ( total 37nos around 04nos of similar rating) of 3RW40 & 14 nos of 3RW44 already for diffenent applications like conveyor i wantedto understand if the same could be suitable for my water pump application. ( inventory would be common) I was reading its manual and find it doesnt support pump stop... so a little worried. Pump fetch the water from ground and fill a tank. Since we have contactor- relay wherein contactor's contact are failing much before their lives i thought to put 1nos of 3RW. pls comment and suggest

Ramp down after normal stop holds good even for VFD If your pump load is variable as the reply said, so many advantages to go for VFDas with lesser load on pump speed can be reduced to save energyButifyour pump load is almost constant (depends on apllication) softstarter is enough Softstarter selection always depends on application. I had seen some applications where high starting torque is required, but customer goes for softstarter without any significant advantage as it takes starting current as good as DOL Regards, Vijay
