S7-224 and Modbus/TCP

yesidh Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I would like to know the cheaper way to get this working: I have a Siemens s7-224 with CP243-1 attached so I'm enabled for Ethernet comm, I need to see some registers of the PLC in a Visual Basic Application. My solution is to use a Modbus/TCP comm with the computer where the PLC is acting as a slave and share the registers, I would like to use this because I have some experience with the modbus/TCP master in visual basic, but any other ideas will be helpful. I don't know if its possible to read registers from the PLC via the Ethernet Interface with a socket comm, I don't know the commands or something. OK. That's all folks!!! Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi Yesidh, As I know the CP243-1 and also the CP243-1IT do not support the ModbusTCP/IP protocol. If you need to display variables froma S7-200 PLC on a PC, then the best is to use the S7-200 OPC-Server called PC-Access. If your scada supports OPC DA V2 then it should work. Go to: www.siemens.de/s7-200 here you can download a 60 day evaluation lizence free of charge. This OPC-Server only works with S7-200 but also supports communication via Ethernet. I hope this helps.
