GPRS modem with 0ba7

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	Hi all, I am using the LOGO! 0ba7 with ethernet currently to control pumps and blowers from wastewater purification stations with reedbeds. What I would like to do now is to have a way of remote monitoring and control (either by LOGOSoft Comfort or with the Android App). This seems possible with the ethernet connection but it can sometimes be a problem to ask a client to give outside access to their LAN and forward ports to the LOGO! Also often the connection to the ISP is through DHCP so you don't have a fixed IP address. So I am now thinking of an alternative, being connecting a GPRS modem to the LOGO! ethernet port and then have remote control over the mobile network. Questions: - Has anyone done this already? Is it possible? - Any advice on what are good and competitive GPRS modems that can be used for this? - I have no experience with GPRS modems. What would the IP address be in that case (for LOGO Comfort and for the Android App)?

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, it may be possibel with the IMO-1 from Insys. Goto: http://www.insys-icom.de/icom/de and check the IMO-1. You also can ask Insys if your requirements can be solved using the IMO-1. AS I know they have a seperate VPN network and a remote control system. This is maybe you are looking for. Hope this helps

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, I heared the IMO-1 is based on the MOROS from Insys. The IMO-1 also has a Ethernet interface. But I don't know if it can communicate with a LOGO! 0BA7. Better ask Insys to get an correct answer. Hope this helps

We are planning to us this with S7-1200 for TCP/IP link with a third party server on GPRS. Moxa ON Cell 5104 – HSPA Modem with External Antenna + cable Cheers Navnag

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	Thank you all for your advice! As I am looking for a low-cost solution (the industrial modems cost over double what the LOGO! itself costs), I am thinking of experimenting with a Raspberry Pi. I will keep you posted about the results.

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	I am working on it and it seems to go in the right direction. I connected a simple G3 dongle to one of the USB ports of my Raspberry Pi and could connect to the internet over the mobile network. Next step will be to use the dongle with the raspberry pi as an SMS gateway so I'm able to send and receive SMS messages. By the way: this goes already beyond the purpose of this forum as with a Raspberry Pi, in fact you don't need a LOGO at all. It could take over all of the tasks of the LOGO itself. It's a Linux PC after all and there are relay boards available for it too.
