ET200S - Terminator Module

Anas10 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hi, I want to know the importance of termination module while configuring ET200S. Is it really tha neccessary? Can't I configure ET200S setup without it? I am trying to configure an ET200S setup with IM151 (6ES7 151-1BA00-0AB0) with two AI / AO modules without any kind of termination module. I am constantly getting error and the system is not able to detect IO modules giving the error message as follows: "Module configured, but not available Preset/Actual mismatch (inserted and configured module tyoes are not the same)" I am also getting the following diagnostic messages in IM151 "DP slave not ready yet for data exchange Different configuration data Slave-specific diagnostic data Watchdog activated" Plz Help

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 12481 Rating: (2722)	Hello Anas10; May I ask how familiar you are with Siemens' hardware, in general, not only with the ET 200S?Experience will teach you that "recommendations" from Siemens manuals and other documents are quite mandatory. If they "suggest" you use a termination module in the ET 200S configuration, be assured that you will get all kinds of ugly messagesof the sort you are recievoing if you try to bypass their use. Have a look at the following ling, and the attached image I have taken from there; it shows that a missing termination module will cause a defective configuration status in the ET 200S rack, which will provoque diagnostic buffer entries: SIMATIC ET 200S Distributed I/O IM151-7 CPU Interface Module This will be true for all ET 200S configurations, with CPUs and interface modules.
