Sven Peter Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Dear collegues, regards from Costa Rica, I try to communicate several Logo version 7 via ethernet for to control my house and workshop. As the Logos did survive many lightnings and abuses in machinery for now 14 years I work with them, I guess they will last longer then the PLCs I used until now for this application. Unlikely I do not find a modern manual or hint here in the Siemens site nor the Logosoft help file for how to configurate the Logo so I can pass the orders or in-outputs from one Logo to the next, I'd appreciate any hint or advice where to look, Thank You very much. Sven Peter Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Thank You very much Marcjan, This link definetely does make a big difference against what I have experienced in these days looking for practical tips, because all I did find myself was undefined bla bla bla. I haven't looked into any of the samples yet, but the list overview is pretty impressive and seems to answer more then one question. I was already about to regress to my normal PLC's I work with. What does keep me back from that is a box full of failed PLC's to send back to the factory. While with the Logos I have only about 3 or 4 scraped in 14 years, of which appearantly none due to lightning. I use Logos as universal emergency helpers on site and for small automation projects and did't know until this weekend that there is a forum for mutual help. Would be nice to see some action here as in other forums where I participate regulary. Lets see what time will bring. Good luck to everybody from the other side of the great pond. Sven Peter

Sven Peter Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	hmm, I tried first the master/slave mode and got surprised that any existing program in the slave LB gets switched off while in slave mode. The original slave's LB program can get switched on and become active again when you change LB to master mode. but then the master logo LA does not recieve its switching signals from the slave. This situation might be turned into a work around for some comunication problems, as we have frecuently during our rainy season, but it is not a very productive environment to be always on site to get a machine producing again in "emergency mode" as generally our operators are not technicaly fit. Is there a way to make the switching Master Slave automatical when the comunication fails?? Now lets try the master/master comunication, I hope it does not need a computer or HMI, It looks from the first reading like a little complicated with the VW adresses. Ho, Ho, What fun it is to try new options of an old fellow tool! (and escape from the clients wishes for a few days) Sven

You can have a look on this quite new application examples for home automation with communication for more than one LOGO! modules through Ethernet. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/64143308 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/68585344 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/68585346 Reading the examples you can choose which communication, Master-Slave or Server-Client, is more suitable for your case. You can also use both communications in one application like in this examples. Sven Peter Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	KM, thank You for the links. yesterday I had to hurry to customs where my motorcycle with the sidecar (Ural) arrived and somebody from the store had pulled out all spares and declared they would not have been part of the bills. So my agent got a lot of work for a simple stupidity. And for me I got a nice Sankt Nikolaus gift "it's never too late to have a happy childhood" As I hadn't seen my bike for month. I will continue exploring the new possibilities of the Logo later when I come back into the machine shop. Sven Peter

Sven Peter Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Jupp, finally I found out where to place the crossreferences for to work from Master to master by using the VB's. So for any project the crossreference list is going to become esential as first thing to start. and later when you have to add extention modules things will become weard. For now the complications I see coming tell me in my back head: "better the PLC's You work with for years then jump into the cold water using a technology that is work wise like stepping back in history some 10 years". Costa Rica saying tells. "Better the known bad then the good to come." In my case the K&P nini DDC's to which I am used to are definetly more flexible for a growing project, while the Logos are sturdier to program. Anyhow I will continue with the Logo-project as it is a feasonable cheap, robust and locally available technology. My next step is to find out how to join the Kinko touch panel into the Logo-net. Once that will be achieved the huge cross reference sheet will have to be filled out with a sharp pencil before programing starts. Have a nice Nikolaustag. Sven Peter
