SINUMERIK 840Dsl Safety problem

TDW_Inside Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, This is my first post on the forum, where it's my first problem i'm really stuck at. I have a new system of sinumerik for a retrofit of a grinding machine. It's also the first time that i'm integrating the safety in the plc of the NCU. The specifications of the system: NCU 710.3 PN V3.2.8 I've attached a pdf file where i try to explain my problem and configuration using screenshots. The main problem is that the plc says that my F CPU has an invalid password, but i just configurated a new plc, with the same password for the cpu as for the software. TDW_Inside Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	MBA, Thanks for the quick reply. But why do they call it a 317F 3N/DP cpu if i cannot handle a safety program, Thats very misleading don't you think. So i need to get myself another F-CPU that communicates with the Sinumerik 840D sl? Bit of a bummer here. Reading the documentation u suggested, it says the following: Only the F--Configuration Pack is necessary to connect fail--safe SIMATIC modules to SINUMERIK. Neither SIMATIC S7 Distributed Safety nor SIMATIC S7 F systems are required. Then why would you try to connect FS modules to sinumerik? Thanks for the help. Tom //////// Got it sorted out by now. You have to work around the safety inside the plc. Actually the safety is all on the level of NCU. The I/O is connected to the NCU and the signals are transfered with DB's. The NCU as well as the PLC runs a safe program, which is compared all the time like a F-CPU would do internally. I'll try to post the workaround here. Greetings, Tom
