Next step is configuring the IP address, netmask and gateway settings in the LOGO. It's important to know the local IP addresses that your router works with and the router's base address. A very common base address for a router is 192.168.1.1 but it can be different in your case. You can find it in the router settings. It is the IP address that you connect to your router with. The router's address is what you have to set as the 'gateway' in the LOGO. (ESC - menu --> network --> IP-address --> scroll down to gateway). You can only change this if you don't have a program running. So if there is a program running, first stop it. You can put the netmask on 255.255.255.0

Next is the IP adress of the LOGO. This should be in the address range that your router supports and you have to make sure there isn't any other PC or other device on the same IP address. Normally if your router has base address 192.168.1.1 you have addresses 192.168.1.2 to 192.169.1.255 available. A range of these addresses can be assigned as DHCP addresses though. For my router all addresses starting from 192.168.1.100 and higher are DHCP addresses so they can be assigned randomly to PCs connected to the router 'at request'. So since the LOGO has a fixed IP address, I choose an IP address below that range, so for instance 192.168.1.10

If you have done this basic setup, you can connect ot the LOGO with the LOGOSoft Comfort software over your router by choosing the same IP address in LOGOSOft Comfort. It's best to check if this works before you continue towards the App over internet. You can also check if the LOGO App works over your local wifi. You then simply fill in the IP address that your LOGO is on in the network address field in the app.

Next step is connecting over the internet. This requires that you forward a port in your router to your LOGO. Go to the router settings and find the port forwarding settings. You have to forward port 10001 to your LOGO's IP address (both TCP and UDP). After you have done that, you can connect to your LOGO! over your external IP address over the internet. Which IP address you have to connect to is simple to find out with a website like whatismyip.com

If you need to connect to your LOGO over internet regularly, it is best if your internet connection has a fixed IP address, otherwise your external IP can change sometimes when you have switched of or reset your router and you can't access your LOGO any longer. Another option if you can't have a fixed IP address, is taking a dynamic dns (for instance dyndns or a free one at afraid.org). Those are services that keep a record of your external IP address and connect it to a fixed domain name. This is updated every time when your IP address changes so you will always be able to connect to the domain name you took. You can use this domain name in stead of an IP address in the LOGO App.
