840D, occasional drive stops (gantry sync?)

jnm Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hey folks, First post here, seeking advice on where to look for answer regarding an intermittent problem we have with our stone milling machine. It's a four axis gantry setup, Burkhardt Hensel 595/4. I'm just the machine operator trying to figure out what's happening, but as far as I can see, it's built on Sinumerik 840D and Simodrive 611D so those are the manuals I've been looking through. I'm attaching an image of the alarm sequence we get. The machine can stop at any time and at any place - there's no regularity to it. Most of the time it runs for a few hours, but it can also happen after only minutes. It doesn't even have to move around in auto mode - it has cancelled out the drives while standing still in jog mode as well. The message about the gantry axises not being equal led us to believe something could be wrong along the tracks and guides, so we cleaned those and checked for slack around the motor drives. Everything looks good there. We even replaced one servo drive unit but that didn't change anything. I hope the alarm messages can shed light on possible problems. Please check the Z axis since it is triping on standstill as well as contour monitoring alarm. For more information, please read the attached file. jnm Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	PISCEAN, thanks for your reply. I chose the alarm output from that shutdown because it was the most extensive so far. However, 80% of the failure events do not output the 25040 or 25050 error codes. Many times I see 21612 for axis Y and YS but not always. I always get the 700006 error code (SM 006 GANTRY AXIS NOT EQUAL) that I can't trace in any Siemens documents, so I suppose this is something Hensel Burkhardt put in there? Usually that error comes together with 700011 (SM 011 REGULATOR FAULT SERVO REGULATOR). In other words, many times this is the only thing I get in the alarm log: 700006 27.02.14 27.02.14 PLC-ALARM : SM 006 GANTRY AXIS NOT EQUAL 09:20:54 09:21:33 700011 27.02.14 27.02.14 PLC-ALARM : SM 011 REGULATOR FAULT SERVO REGULATOR 09:20:55 09:21:32 Again, this without any of the other error codes for either X or Z axis, which is why we're still staring at the gantry setup... Do you still think the Z-axis is the cause of the shutdown?

Do you still think the Z-axis is the cause of the shutdown? Hello, Alarms begining with 700 XXX are PLC alarms, generated or configured by machine builder. With Simatic Manager step 7 softwareyou can connect & check your machinePLC logic. By analysing the logic, you will understand the cause of fault. HTH.
