3RH1122-1AP00 will not turn off

DocT10000 Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	Hello, I am using a 3RH1122-1AP00 in a circuit with some long cables. When the circuit is switched off with a pushbutton (NC) the contactor relay will not turn off. Suspect this has to do with the low holding power (4.8 VA) for this contactor relay. Are there any plug-in resistors for this relay that can increase the power or are there another relay with the same functions, but with higher holding power? Regards DocT

LesPaul Posts: 467 Rating: (59)	hello DocT, it's the conductor capacitance that causes the above mentioned behaviour. The attached report describes this subject. The also attached catalog page shows a 3RT1916-1GA00 ''additional-load'' module. This module contains a resistor 22 kiloOhm and can be plugged into a 3RH1122-1AP00 contactor relay. Not knowing the actual conductor capacitance we are unable to guarantee that this accessory will help, but there is a good chance that it does. Dear Expert, First of all thanking you lot for your reply,its realy helpfull to us.This type of issue cant be easily shorted out on field. Also thanx to DocT for sahere his problem with us. But i have one query that what is the defrrence beetween ''additional-load'' module and discharge resistor comewith capacitor duty contactor.

LesPaul Posts: 467 Rating: (59)	hello, an ''additional load'' module such as 3RT1916-1GA00 increases the load (decreases the load resistance). This results in a discharge of the conductor capacitance which means there is no residual voltage anymore that holds the contactor in closed position.Re. capacitor contactors:3RT16 capacitor contactors are equipped with precharge resistors that have a totally different function compared to the above. These precharge resistors are there to prevent high inrush currents of capacitors. kind regards LesPaul
