Cooling(Ventilation) of Panel

jeet2907 Posts: 235 Rating: (52)	Dear All, As we know the vantilation(Cooling) is the one of the most important point while making panel. Now my question is Which type of ventilation is more suitable in PCC ,APFC And Control panel,Generaly we are used LOWERS and FAN for the same.Hence where we use BOTH. Also the mounting position( Front,Side or Top of the panel) of FAN for cooling in panel is efficiant?

Hello jeet2907, As I know for any Panel Who is Creating the Heat you have to used the Vantilation for Better Cooling & to Maintain the Temperature In side the Panel (Inside Componet also) For Panel, Lower Part used the LOWERS & on the Top of the Panel or the Top Side you can used the Lower With Fan to Keep the Hot Air Should get through out from Panel. because Hot Air is always go in top side,

Hello, Normally these type of question doesn't have a unique reply based on technical reasons or facts. It's like "what is the best car?" But back to your question, if you chosed the most expensive type without making necessary calculation, then be sure that the cooling system will not be efficient. Most likely bigest manufactures provides user friendly software packages to make these calculations. Try thisone. And this software should guide you to the optimum selection. Hope this helps.

If we considered that what you said is a fact, then could you please tell us why enclosure manufactures make panels (IP 65 / 66)??? And why they make Panel ventalation systems (Fans, and ACU designed for panels)?

Amit_86 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Off Topic Apart from Cooling of panel, I have seen heaters also in the plc panel . I m not good at panel designing infact i have never involved in panel designing But i m agree with ayman that keeping control panel in ac room doesnot solve the purpose of cooling.

Exactly Amit, But not only heaters that you may need, you may need also to control humidity. Thermal Management Thermal Management (Temperature and Moisture Control) Moisture can build up not only in outdoor or poorly insulated enclosures, but also in highly protected and well-sealed enclosures. Moisture, especially when combined with aggressive gases and dust, causes atmospheric corrosion and can result in the failure of components such as circuit breakers, busbars, relays, integrated circuit boards and transformers. Moisture and corrosion will remain low if relative air humidity stays below 60%. However, relative humidity above 65% will significantly increase moisture and corrosion problems. This can be prevented by keeping the environment inside a control panel enclosure at a temperature as little as 9°F (5°C) higher than that of the ambient air. AutomationDirect enclosure heaters controlled with thermostats, humidistats (hygrostats) and hygrotherms protect against condensation. These PTC heaters warm the air inside enclosures, preventing water vapor from condensing on components while providing the greatest possible air circulation and low energy consumption. They are also referred to as condensate heaters or condensation heaters. Hope this helps.

Dear Amit, The heater has to put in panel just maintain humidity unto the panel as Ayman said. It is closed loop control with humidity sensor. If there is a high humidity found in the panel, heater will be started automatically.
