trip the drive out and then display an error

I have 3 different N/C switches wired into Di0-2 and I want them to trip the drive out and then display an error, I was going to use the external fault 1-3 (p2106) but I think it causes issues with the drives and causes them to trip out constantly. What would be the best parameter to map to this or is it OK to remap the current external faults to the DI's?
