S7 1200.../ Simotion drive not homing

sureshpg Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Dear All,, we have a machine with s71200 and two simtion drive controller. when ever swicthing off and swich on the machine power- servo motor not going to homing positon. to make homing we have to placing cpu stop and start by using pg.....every power cycle -operator cant put cpu stop by using pg... so what will be the problem..where i need to check????? suresh

Since the plc cannot tell the difference, it must be user logic in the way your programming initializes things during the first scan OB that when it is restarted and runs the first scan logic a 2nd time, the motion controls begin to work. Take a look at how your default values (what values you get when you power up) compare to your first scan values and any OB processing that happens after the first scan may affect the homing routines. If you do not have a first scan OB, you should create one and put your initialization routines in there. Also, if you know how long it takes for your motion controls to be ready to accept commands, perhaps the first thing your main OB does is inhibit signals and commands to the drives until you know they are ready to accept them. I have used a very crude and simple timerset to 1.5x power on to ready state... Or, 1.5 times the time it takes longest drive power on and get to the readystate.

When the plc is in stop mode, the values in memory are kept to their current values. That means that if a drive has completed its power up and is ready to accept commands, certain status bits/bytes/words may be not 0. When a plc is powered off and then back on again, the values are 0. The difference is when your PLC starts running programming logic whether the values are 0 or something valid. If you simply pause your PLC from doing _anything_ for 5 to 10 seconds on startup, it may save you some work trying to get everything restored. Good luck with your first scan and system restore logic worked out for your application.

If it were me, I would probably look for an existing demo or sample project in the FAQs. I would use that nice search box in the upper right of the forums to find and download working and documented demo code that may save you hours of time figuring it all out.
