BELT scale for Biomass

PILearner Posts: 80 Rating: (1)	We need a belt scale for weighing Biomass ( which is composed of maize straw, wheat straw, rice husk, rice straw, sugar cane trash, corn straw ). The density of this biomass is normally 100 kg/m3 . The flow rate is 5 ton/h. can you suggest a suitable belt scale or any other solution including load cells and weighing modules like SIWAREX. Levelmans Posts: 124 Rating: (45)	A beltscale has to be calculated, you can´t pick the version directly from the catalog. I suggest to create a "service request" here. Do you know speed of the belt? Belt width and weight of 1 running meter of it (if belt running meter weight is comparable with the load, then it may produce weighing inaccuracy)? Also there are another moments to examine: - belt quality (material, thickness deviation) - conveyor / belt lenght - conveyor / belt vibration - belt speed deviation - etc [snip] ... _{Edit. This was Siemens PPT. Why snip?} Weightfeeder is in principle very accurate belt scale where mechanical disturbances are minimized.

In applications like these it isn't so much the low flow rate, it is the rest of the application considerations. 5tph on a flat conveyor that is 18" wide we can likely do, 5tph on a 36" wide conveyor that is troughed is probably not a good application for a belt scale, but it can be done. What accuracy does the customer need? Please fill in a belt scale application questionnaire and send it in with your Service Request.
