S7-1200 Looking for ERROR LED Tag

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	I am wondering if there is a tag that shows the status of the ERROR LED. We have had a lot of water damage due to condensation in our control cabinets. CPUs and I/O modules are failing. The ERROR LED flashes when there is a problem. We have a SCADA system with alarm email/texting. I am looking for a simple diagnostic bit that shows that there is a hardware error so I can text maintenance to check the PLC for problems before the product is ruined. I have looked at GET_DIAG and OB82, but have not found a simple gneric ERROR bit solution for all modules. Any ideas?

In some firmware versions, you can use the LED diagnostic instruction by pointing it at the right HW_ID and LED of interest, in this case, the error LED. Take a look at your project and see what diagnostic instructions are available and see if any fit your specific needs. You could also put a humidity sensor in your control cabinet and trigger when it reaches too high a value to turn on a second AC unit or dehumidifier, but that would be more expensive than simply monitoring the LED and replacing modules after they fail, right?

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	Thank you for your help. The PLCs areS7-1200 1214C DC/DC/DC V3.0. TIA V13 Great idea on the LED diagnostic instruction. I don't know anything about it. Do I have it? I'll try GET_DIAG on the LED if I can find it's hardware address. I don't see it in the system constants. This is a dehydration application. The conduits are sealed, but water still gets everywhere. If we have troubles with a dessicator, condensation forms in the conduit, leaks through the seals and drips onto the hardware. It was a mistake to have conduit entering at the top... I'm trying to get drains installed and deflectors above the electronics. I still need to monitor the ERROR LED.

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	I can't find LADDR values, (Logical ADDRess?). The hardware identifier for my CPU is 64. I assume that is the LADDR and use that. I use 2 for the ERROR LED and I get a 8092 return which is: "A module that does not support LEDs was addressed with the LADDR parameter." It is a 1214C AC/DC/RLY V3.0 I have 24 of them on this application. Does anyone know what the LADDR should be for this CPU? Is it the same as the hardware identifier? Can you direct me to it? Thank you.
