IP Address clarification

vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 9/25/2025 Posts: 712 Rating: (30)	Hai all, I have some doubts on HMI Trsnsfer address Vs Adress under the connection between PLC and HMI. Say I have KTP600 basic mono pn. For transfering the project, in the control panel of hmi , i made IP as 192.168.0.2. Later in my project, under connection settings, i made IP adress of HMI as 192.168.0.3 (I know, i can keep both transfer as well as conection address as same). Once project is downloaded, my HMI will communicate with plc independent of transfer setting under HMI CONTROL PANEL. If am pinging the ip adress, i could able to ping the IP which i given in control panel, not with connection settings IP address. Even after power restart also, it is same. so my doubt is, my hmi is having IP 192.168.0.2 ? Then what about ip 192.168.0.3 ?

Test and resilts are as follos.. 1. with MPI settings PG/PC -- MPI,187 Kb/S HMI Transfer settings-- MPI, 187 Kb/S PLC-HMI CONNECTION SETTINGS-- MPI,1.5Mb/S I could able to download the program at 1st attempt. Once started the RT in HMI panel, automaticaly MPI baudrate updated to 1.5Mb/S. So in second attempt I couldnt able to establish the communication. So PC side I changed the baud rate to 1.5Mb/s. then it communicated. Same thing happent for DP also. So as you suggested, HMI is taking refernce from connection settings. But in the case of ethernet, i couldnt able to conclude this way. Test done. 1. PC IP--192.168.0.220 HMI TRANSFER SETTINGS-- ETHERNET, IP--192.168.0.2 PLC-HMI CONNECTION SETTINGS-- PLC-192.168.0.1, HMI-192.168.0.10 Downloaded and tested the communication, working fine. checked the IP of HMI, still at 192.168.0.2 I can ping 192.168.0.2 then what about 191.168.0.10 (I know there is nothing to do with this, but for my knowledge sake)
