Question Adding new modules??

Terretck Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I'm new to the PLC world, so I'm trying to figure out how to solve this: We need to add DI modules in order to connect on/off buttons in the field. Our existing installation is equiped with Siemens ET200S, IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU. We ran out of space in the main rack and we need to add 9 DI modules. Having an extra space just below the existing ET200S, my idea is to buy a module interface without CPU (IM151-3 PN HF), then connect these 9 extra DI modules to this new interface module (IM 151-3) and then connect it into the existing CPU (IM151-8). The problem is that I'm not sure if this is OK, or if I should consider another configuration. Thanks in advance, and sorry about my english.

You can connect the new rack to the IM151-8 on Profinet. You will need to also insert a PM ( Power Module ) between the IM and the I/O Modules ( Just as in your main rack ) You will however have to define it in the hardware configuration and download the same to the CPU. Will this present a "complication" for the system or is just a little issue? Hello Terretck This is nothing to be afraid of. Just a simple procedure to be followed. All you need is STEP-7 package and the the Original PLC STEP7 Program ( Can be Uploaded from the existing system ). You will need this anyway to add the new I/Os in your logic. Just open the hardware and Add the new rack on PROFINET. You can use the Online Help and the Manuals installed automatically with STEP7 ( Under the TAB "Documentation" ). Download the modified Configuration to the CPU. ( CPU Will go to "STOP" once when hardware is downloaded. Good Luck Cheers Navnag
