Accesing Struct Data with TiaPortal

girodanton Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Siemens Forum, I've made a migration since Step7 v5.5 to TiaPortal v11. Everything looks to work good, but not the variables that are within structs. The Hmi doens't know address of any variable that is in a struct. For instance> Motor.start is in the adress DB200.DBD266, but this variable is in fact in the struct type Motor. The HMI cant relation the address... What can i do? Thanks in advance. Anton

Anton Is this HMI also in the portal project and have you linked up the HMI tag to the PLC tag for these that use a struct? There is also a potential problem with some HMIs using symbolic addressing for a DB. Are your DBs being accessed by the HMI set for symbolic addressing? This is not a perfect answer, but it may get your project working better. And which plc and hmi are you using? If it is a non Siemens panel, it may not work with symbolic addressing no matter what you try.

The addressing seems to be symbolic since each HMI tag points to the PLC tag (variable PLC in spanish), but the PLC tag doesnt have any address. The PLC and the HMI are both Siemens (CPU 315, MP277). So, what do you suggest? Should I type each address for all the HMI variables pointing to structs? How can I set a symbolic address in the HMI? The option seems to be disabled... We are using some MP177 and I could not migrate to V11 for some reason, but V12 migrated great. I guess V13 would do an even better job but have not tried. That said, I do not know the answer to your question. Do you have the latest V11 SP and Update? If not, I suggest that right away.

Thanks, In V11, you have to create a NEW DB (while offline), but you can copy the structure/tags of the existing DB so it does not take too long. Just be sure to set the access mode (uncheck symbolic) before compiling and downloading. Once the new DB is created, rename it and change the DB number to be the same as the symbolic one you want to change. In future versions of Portal, this is as simple as a mouse click. :(
