How can I know what is the maximum frequency supported for the motor considering the weakening field ? How to calculate the percentage loss of Mn for a frequency of 90 Hz, for example? For f=90Hz >> U=684V but the voltage is limited in 380V so I'll see a weakening field and consequently a torque loss. But I want to know the percentage of loss %Mn ? regards.

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	Berg, When it comes to Servo and Stepper Motors the manufacturers put out a graph that shows the torque curve at specified rotation speed. It is very unpredictable and non linear. I would expect nothing less from an asyncronise motor. You are going to get an electrical slipage that is going to cause problems.. yet the drive has some parameters to try and compensate for that. IBN-Service suggests your best high speed performance would be when the motor is wired in delta. It will however be very difficult to suggest a generic formula (IMHO) to work out what the weakening of torque is going to be. It will very much depend on how well the motor is constructed.. so it will be manufacturer specific. The best would have been to have some data from the manufacturer. Even then we have issues (IMHO) as this is asynchronise operation, which will have some element of doubt. From experience I have seen THAT size motor having trouble when trying to push it beyond 115Hz. But that means nothing as the inititial torque required as well as boosting/ramping of the drive I use does not relate to your application. What I can tell you is that the shape of the ramping has a big impact on how the system handles the speed. So.. do you think you can get a measured torque curve from the motor manufacturer?
