I use DB126, generated with RSE for error handling in the PLC, but I don´t get any response from the switch even though the led is red. I would e.g. want the PLC to know if the "Link down monitor" was tripped. /David

David_R Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Yes, I do use Scalance X as an PROFINET IO device. The thing is that I want to create alarms for our custom made alarm system, with an MP370. I use RSE to generate DB126, which gives me access to status for all IO devices in my IO system. This works if I for example remove a IO module on my ET200s, but not if I unplug a supervised port in the Scalance switch, even though its LED goes red. /David

These message can only be displayed on the panel by OPC SNMP. The settings for RSE need to be made inside the HW Configurator. Just change the port settings of the switch. This can be done by the new Topology function inside Step 7 as of version v5.4 SP2. These message will popup there I guess.

PROFINET IO – Diagnostics Processing in the User Program You will just have to use the "newer" GSDXML File... you also may have to use a CPU that supports the newest Diagnostics Functions for PROFINET because the used SCALANCE supports the Sub module addressing... so your Controller has to too. Monitoring the port status within the HW Configuration like done with the X200 v1 is not possible anymore. So you cannot control or a link is there or not you can check or the correct partner is connected. But this can only done between ProfiNet components which supports this functionality (LLDP) so not betweenregular ethernetnodes.

David_R Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Thanks guys, I have now configured the port in Step7 instead of the WBM. Under the Options tab of the port I now use "automatic setting (monitor)". The port I want to monitor is the fiber optic port with connection to another Scalance x212-2. I still have some problems though. I don´t get DB126 to update when unplugging the port in the switch. To update DB126 I can either cause another error, e.g. unplug my ET200s or I can download DB49 manually. Have I missed something? /David

This is the correct set up: Two Scalance x212-2, connected with fiber optics, and to each switch I have one CPU317F-2 PN/DP, two ET200s and a MP370. In case of communication fault between PLC's, e.g. wire break, I want to create alarms in the PLC's to show on the mp370. Because the alarm system in the plant is custom made, I´m not allowed to use RSE to set the alarm in the panel. Best regards David_R

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear David, you have there a little problem because in this case you will have to use both SCALANCE X as PROFINET IO Devices. You will have to use CPUs that support the latest PROFINET Diagnostics too... and you will have to be sure that you know all the required Link state information’s to check on.. because you may plug and unplug other Systems that could also be monitored with the OB 82, that is the OB that reports if you have a change in monitored Link states. Another way... my personally preferred one, would be to check the Connection state itself. If you do not find a way to check this in your local station you may use a cyclic Get Function from one PLC to the other one reading the clock byte, if you do not get a done in less than a second... there is a problem with the connection... I guess this is the easiest one. Best regards J_Bell
