I am totally new to Siemens and relatively new to PLC programing in general so pleas bear with me.

I am taking on a project where I will be using several 1214C’s and a 1510SP-1 (ET 200SP).

My first problem is on one of the 1214. I have four machines that have each an “ON” button. I need to make a program that delays the turn on between every machine by a certain amount of time, say 20m. So if the user walks to the first machine (M1) pushes it´s ON button then M1 would turn on immediately. Then he would turn on the other three on the order M2, M3 and M4. That should make the machines turn on with 20 minutes apart minus the elapsed time it took between the ON pushes. Another feather that has to be implemented is to be able to cancel an ON order. That is, say that the user pushes on The ON buttons in the order M1, M2, M3 and M4 and then OFF on M2 and M3 before they actually turn on. Then there should only go 20min between M1 and M4 minus the time that has elapsed between the pushes.  

I hope you guys can understand my explanation of the problem and can help me.

Are there any programming language that you are familiar with?
How about flow diagrams?

Start on paper first. Do a paper design for the sequencing of the machine starting. You can use Pseudo code, flow charting, if-and-then structuring.. anything that you are familiar with. Even some coding is C++ if that will help you to order your thoughts.

You can scan in your paper design and the guys can see how to direct you.

I don't have access to my TIA portal at the moment however I have attached a small example from Step 7 in FBD that you might find use-full to start your program. It is only a basic example of a sequence start and you will need to modify it to suit your need. I0.5, I0.6 and i0.7 can be the start button for each Mbit or you can replace them with another memory bit and add another SR to set the bit for each output you need to control. I take it you will use a push button N/O for start and N/C for stop?

I think I could use this, but I don’t have the S_ODT block in my TIA. I also noticed other blocks that I find in the help but aren’t available like the FIFO and LIFO. Is there a place where I can download additional Instructions for TIA PORTAL?
