Hi.

I have a Project With two Siemens panels running WinCC flexible 2008. They have identical HMI's and are able to Control the same process. They are both Connected to the same PLC. When an alarm is triggered from the PLC, alarm Messages are generated in both panels. Is there any possible way I could make it so that if the alarm i acknowledged in one panel, it will also get the acknowledged status in the other panel? All units are Connected to an Ethernet switch and are on the same network.

yes of course you can . Look at this FAQ:

so you have to project the HMI and PLC Acknowledge Tags in both Panels. so when on e panel do an acknowledge then you have to set in PLC the Acknowledge on the other Panel.

 Ok, I'm in big troule now. According to the guide, the PLC acknowledge bits needs to be in the same Word/tag as the trigger bit. This is a big problem for me, because it is an old Project and all the bits in each tag are filled up With trigger bits. I tried adding more words to the same datablock to use for PLC acknowledgement, but wincc flex will not let me do that. Is there any way around this?

Reprogramming to make Space for trigger and acknowledge bits in the same words will be a HUGE job, and not really an option at this point.

Edit: Can I get it done just by using the HMI ack tags? As long as both panels are Reading the same tags, shouldn't that work?
