Hi, please I get these errors while trying to migrate an existing project to my Step7 Pro Ver 13 SP1:

1. Project detected has extension .s7p

Error: There is no suitable STEP 7 version installed. Please install STEP 7 V5.4 SP5 or STEP7 V5.5.

2. Project detected has extension .hmi

Error: Only projects saved in the format of WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 or SP3 can be migrated.

To convert a "legacy" project to TIAP..
* You must have Step7 V5.4.5 or Step7 V5.5 installed.
* The license for Step7 V5.4 / V5.5 must be active.

> Can you open your original program on that PC using Step7 V5.4 / V5.5?

Your project also have an older HMI integrated into the project.
You will have to remove the integrated HMI project or get it upgraded to the mentioned software versions: WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 or SP3.

Step7 in TIAP V13.1 can open other project version of TIAP without problem.
..careful for getting caught in the salesman's trap.

To convert from "legacy" to TIA Portal it is needed to have the "legacy" software installed. It is as if TIA opens the program in the older version to "read" what is coded.

In the original project - what HMI was used and which engineering software? There also is a trap to be aware of. Protool projects are not worth converting IMHO. Some older HMIs has an upgrade path to comfort panels (opinion), There are documentation of what can be upgraded to where.

My point is.. please be specific what was used in the original project so that the guys can be more specific to what your options are.

I've not been able to confirm the exact details of what was used but a correspondence I go states TIA nor Siemens 5.5 software was used.
