shane2977 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, Please let me know if I have posted in the wrong area. This seemed like the most appropriate place as it is an applications question. I am in Canada and I am designing a system for Africa. I need to know what types of fuses to use. I am going to use LR HRC fuses for the inverters but what are the most common types of fuses to use for the main disconnects and for general protection of my other components. I want to use fuses that are readily available in Africa. Thanks Shane

As in CANADA, the mains voltage is 120VAC (L-N) / 60Hz. Alot of website availbe with these info. Here's bellow an example: http://kropla.com/electric2.htm So your VSD should be able to power with the available main voltages or you will need a transformer. And In its data sheet it will tell you the recommended fuses or CB that you have to use. For me and For Egypt. HRC fuses is available. I do not know the country of your project. But you can easily get the info from internet. Hope this helps.

shane2977 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your response Ayman. In Canada we use 600VAC phase to phase (377 phase to ground). We use 120VAC / 24VDC for the control voltage. My project is going to Liberia Africa. They use 400VAC phase to phase and 110VAC / 24VDC control voltage. We use what we call Class J, Class CC, and Supplementary fuses for most general applications in our control panels. The Class J is typically used in the main disconnect to protect the control panel. The Class CC fuses are used for branch circuit protection within the panel (motors, control transformers). 5x20mm or 5x30mm glass fuses are used for supplementary protection fot the PLC, 24VDC power supply, etc. What type of fuse would use in your control panel disconnects? What type of fuse would you use to protect your control transformer? What type of fuse would you use to protect your PLC? Thanks Shane

And we normally use it with Weidmuller or Pheonix Contact Fuse TB. All of it (i.e glass fuses, Weidmuller or Pheonix) Products are available here in Egypt. For more than 10 or 16 A, we use cartaridge fuses (10x38)mm and cartridge is Hager Made. and also it is available in Egypt. For higher ratings, we use Siemens disconnector with HRC fuses from Siemens, Busmann. If you are not sure of availability of fuses you would like to use in Liberia, you can give your client some of these fuses as a spare. Hope this helps.
