Can't connect WinCC flexible with the PLC

I thought that you had to establish connection to an S7 PLC that is already setup as slave, and you then had to setup your HMI asthe master for this slave? If that is the case, you should follow our previous hints. If on the other hand, you are free to change the connection from the HMI from master-slave to master-master, then it is really quite simple. In WinCC Flexible you must setup a "normal" profibus connection, and then specify the details of the bus (baudrate) and the "partner station" (Station address, rack = always "0" for an S7-300, and slot =always "2" for an S7-300. Thats it. You can then access variables in the PLC. i.e. M100.2, DB12.DBX3.2, DB15.DBW20 etc. Even easier is if you can integrate both projects (S7 and WinCC Flexible) in the same STEP7 project. You can then simply point to the S7 CPU when defining the connection, and you get access to all the symbols in the S7 CPU. You can then adress the tags symbolically, i.e. "Start_Command", "Motor1".Status.Temperature etc. edit: To answer your question: For a master-master connection there is no "i/o area" as there is with a master-slave connection.

Yes, the task was to establish connection to an S7 PLC that is already setup as slave, and I have to setup my HMI asthe master for this slave. But, since I don't have access to the Step7 project (only WinCC flexible project) I think it's easier to contact the creators of the Step7 project to change CP 342-5 to master then to change HW configuration by adding PC station and configuring OPC server. Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	An OPC connection will work, but unless you need OPC for other reasons, I recommend that you setup a "regular" online connection from WinCC Flex to the PLC. OPC is required in case that you have to setup setup the PC as a DP Master.
