One CPU(master) went to fault with all LEDs blinking state and not able to communicate. During this moment the redundancy CPU became as master. hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 1/5/2026 Posts: 6892 Rating: (1368)	Hello , When a LEDs of a CPU are blinking , it will not respond to communication request via STEP 7 (Most of the time). It is possible to connect to partner and save the buffer content to see what is the reason for redundancy loss but most of the time codes mentioned in event are not understandable for user,Before taking further steps I suggest: Checking your Old CPU in a rack out of your production line, ideally in a shop without all accessories as S7-400 station.If i t doesn't respond this way, perhaps it defective and you should contact a SIEMENS repair shop. If it responds this way, check your physical situation like EMC/Grounding. if 2nd case passes, visually check your Rack and its pins finally , check your accessories such as SYNC.Modules and memories It is also recommended to update the firmware of your CPUs to the latest , but this will be the last recommendation because you need upgrade both CPUs and it requires unit shutdown. This is the second incident of the same cpu after 8 month duration. Regards Sathish Venmani

Actual firmware can be found there: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/40945038 As far as I know there was specifically some improvements of this blinking issue within the latest firmware.
