I asked a collegue in the office to try inserting a link. Even he couldn't do that. He uses the identical IE version. So obviously there are some problems with this version.

I tried it with Firefox and I succeed. But my standard explorer is IE.

I got it! I need compatibility because another application which I need regularly requires that. When I turn off the compatibility mode, I can insert links.
