 FM458-1 is not a replacement of Add FEM. These are two different modules for two different applications.

It is designed for use in a SIMATIC S7-400 station. Together with two additional plug-in expansion modules, the FM 458-1 DP allows a large number of high-dynamic applications, especially driverelated applications to be implemented.
These include, for example, closed-loop torque, speed and position controls

Add 7 AddFEM (Front End Module)

Add FEM, the front end module is designed specifically for the special task of controlling turbines rapidly (different signal types, redundancy, rapid detection and preprocessing, etc.). ADD FEM can be used to implement gas, steam, industrial and water turbine control systems. ADD FEM can furthermore be used to implement automation and control applications which require short system reaction times.

 firstly thanks for consideration.as you told the FM module use for high performance closed loop.my question is that can FM 458 be used as redundant in s7-400H?the point is redundancy in FM module.

AddFEM has implemented as turbine governer which connected to FM 458 module via profibus topology.

However, in redundant mode, both CPUs are interconnected via the redundant link and thus execute the user program identically. 
Only non critical applications ( Which do not require redundancy can be implemented in single side.
