Hi, I have a  IM153-4PN 6ES7-153-4AA01-0XB0  with a 64k Memory card   6ES7-953-8LF30-0AA0,

I would like to know how to save the device name in that MMC.

My laptop have a card reader and when I insert the MMC i can see it in the drives list as drive E: but I can't access the content data. Maybe that's normal, I don't know. After that in Step7 Hardware configuration I select my device and then I click on PLC but the "Save device data in memory card" is grey, the command is inactive.

What's wrong ?

this MMC Type can't be used in a normal card Reader, here you need a special SIEMENS MMC Reader.

To store the name on the MMC:

insert the mmc in the IM Module

Power On the Module

connect the PC to the module and start "Edit Ethernet Nodes " in simatic manager

select the im and assign a name and IP

now the data will be stored on the card

remove the MMC power on the IM an show if name or ip is present

power off insert the mmc power on show if Name and IP is present

I followed the procedure that you suggested to me but the name and IP are always present with or without the MMC, I found no differences.

have you only connected the IM to the PC ?
If you have also connected the PLC then it can be that the PLC assign the name to the IM after powerON!

Thank you Christoph for your always prompt reply, that is how I proceed :

I power off the IM151-3PN and I disconnect the two Profinet cables from it.
I connect my Ethernet cable from PC directly to the IM.
I extract the MMC from the IM.
I power on the IM
In Step7 / Hardware Configuration I select : PLC -> Ethernet -> Verify device name
The IP and name I assigned are there. The same with MMC inserted.

no that is not the right way.

you should use "edit ethernet nodes" to scan the network.

With verify the name and ip from the project transfered to the devices!

Hi, I scanned the network with or without MMC and I found no differences, the IP and device name are still there (Plc was not connected).

After that I tried in another way, I exchanged two MMC each other and I got an error in the Profinet system and that is what I expected. Now scanning the network gave me the same IP and device name as the MMC was inserted in the right IM. Strange thing.

Ok, I will check that again in the next machine I will commissioning.
