I've not been able to find an operating manual to the counter 6ES5-242.

Searching on this forum only returns the technical reference and equipment manual for said component.

Anybody who can help me?

The manuals you're referring are those mentioned in my question, i.e., the technical reference and equipment manuals. Unfortunately, these are not the operating manual. Any other ideas?

Hello andvol;

The equipment manual proposed earlier contains all the programming information for different models of IP 242 (IP 242A/B with the different FBs required for each).

It also covers the hardware and software settings for each type of IP 242, the guidelines for programming the HSCs, the startup procedures, a sample program for each type of counter and a description of their operation modes.

What else are you l;ooking for in an "Operating Manual"?

Hi dcartier, and thanks for the reply!

As you point out, the equipment manual is vast. Just over 400 pages. The truth is, this is too much.

I came over a german operation manual at work, but as you may have guessed, I don't understand german very well. But the size of the manual was manageable(well below 100 pages i believe).

From what I was able to interpret from the german manual, the depth of information was suitable, and that was the reason for my initial post here.

I guess I could always find the identical information in the equipment manual, but it would be more time consuming to search for it.

In that case, please give us (in German) the full title of the document you have access to. We could check if an English (or other language) translation of the  manual exists.

Unfortunately the IP 242 is part of the S5 family modules, and the whole family of processors has been discontinued for a few years; and access to the full documentation is getting harder to locate...
