INPUT can only be read.....

it is not a best practice to set an input,

use a flag:

A I0.1

O M0.0

=.....

Like Mindware already said: You only can read from inputs, not write to inputs.

Imagine which situations you'll get when it will be possible:  

System has 6 HMI panels from which a DI (I0.0) can be set. At I0.0 a sensor is connected. Once upon a beautiful day there's a problem with the system. The electro engineers noticed I0.0 is high and the sensor is not switched. So they change it. Without any positive result. 

The rest of the story you can fill in yourself.

 set a merker with your button, then in the plc program use that merker in paralel with the input

you could only set HMI Tags. Not directly data in the PLC. So you have to use a connection to the PLC and create a HMI tag  with an Adress -> so you could set it.

The input of an CPU will be written by CPU every cycle. So even if you can write the Input bit, it will be overwritten by CPU.

At the beginning of a Cycle, the CPU reads in all Inputs, then it processes the program and at the end it writes all outputs.
