I have recently hooked up a ET 200 S with the Analog Input Module 6ES7 134A-4GB01-0AB0. To the analog input module I have connected a 3 wire infrared temperature sensor. However, despite my best efforts, I cannot get a reading from the input module. The sensor is the 4-20mA type and I know it works because I can use a multimeter to observe the change in current as temperature changes. I am using TIA portal 13 and at the moment I'm just trying to read the input word and display it on an HMI. Since I'm using TIA portal I can look at the tags online and observe if any values are changing and all I'm getting are zeros for my sensor. I've attached a picture of how I have my sensor hooked up. The analog signal from the sensor is connected to M0+ the +V is connected to 24 volts and the M0- and 0V are connected to a common ground of the 24 Volt power supply. it can't work, you use the wrong analog input module.

The analog input module 6ES7 134-4GB01-0AB0 is only for 2wire-sensors.
Your wiring is for a 3/4-wire sensor.

You need the analog input module 6ES7 134-4GB11-0AB0, that is for 2/4-wire sensors.

how is the transmitter connected? which pins are used?

How do you look at the tags in TIA? Try it with e.g. %IW256:P

 Ok, I thought that might be the case, but I wasn't sure if I could essentially make it look like a 2 wire sensor.

characteristics for a 2-wire sensor

• there is no extra power supply necessary
• the power supply is coming from the analogue card or the "+" is connected to 24 V and the "-" is connected with the "+" input of the analogue card and the "-" of the analogue card is connected to grpound
• you have only 2 contacts

characteristics for 3/4-wire sensor

• you need a extra power supply for the sensor
• you have 3 or more contacts at the sensor
• at 3-wire is the ground of the power supply also the signal ground

I hope this explain you the differences between this sensor types.
