PCS7 Different Configuration Possibility

AliMohammad Manso... Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi there, I haveinvolved in a new project with PCS7 and CEMAT library. I have a small Cement Plant with less than 500 I/O's; Now I have following questions: 1- For chosing network and AS/OS element which manual or resources shall Iread and what points shall Itake into considratoin. 2- Which licenses do I need for various choices I have? 3- What is the most cost effective configuration (I suggest one PC as Server and Clinet Both and one Laptop as Engineering Station and one S7-400 as AS and one Switch which PC, PLC and Laptop will connect to it as Star connectoin)? Thanks for any help in advance.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	amk: 1. You can read about sample configurations etc. in the CEMAT Reference Manual System: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/28286648 2. You need a CEMAT license in addition to the PCS7 licenses. 3. It depends on how many terminals you need. If one terminal only, you can go for OS single station and ES. Else a server and client(s) and an ES. Both server and client cannot be on a single PC. There are many different network topologies explained in great detail in the system manual. Regards

If so, which license should I obtain? and what kind of limitation I will encounter without server? Youknow,in my project I need minimum possible hardware. Thanks for any guidance.

An OS Single station. amk If so, which license should I obtain? and what kind of limitation I will encounter without server? An OS single station license. The limitation is, there will be only 1 station. if it fails, the operator loses control. But you can always use the ES (with WinCC client RT license) as a standby for such emergencies.
