I hope to use the "Update Centre" function provided in the Logosoft Comfort software to check if my software is up to date. The "Update Centre" lists "http://www.siemens.com/logo-update" as the address to link to.

Could someone confirm that this link is correct. My software returns with a message. The message says my software is up to date or there is an error.

Before it would have at offered different language packages even if the software were up to date.

Currently I have V8.1.0. My 2nd question - where can I find out what the newest update is?

The address is correct.
Since there is currently no update for V8.1.0 available for download, the error message is correct.

Forgive me for sounding like a spoilt brat. I am unhappy with the listed options. I put no blame to you - please know that.

You and I can agree that (1) should be an option, but is sadly not. For (3) you get lost in the woods with all the non relevant information.

Then (2) seem such a good answer. But then only update to V8.x is stated as an update version. I would expect some changelog somewhere at least.

ixo65 - Do you work for Siemens? How are you kept informed of relevant updates about the LOGO product range? Is there a type of mailing list that I could subscribe to?

We do not use the LOGO as often as we did before. So I am hoping Siemens has something that would not SPAM my email with every imaginable note that has LOGO written on it.

UPDATE 2:
Under type as "Product Note" is made mention of 29 August 2014 on the announcement of the OBA8 range. No mention further on the update V8.1.

Yes, summarizing two possible answers in an error message is somewhat unfortunate.
There are 3 possibilities to get information.

1.) The update center function of LSC.

2.) The official Siemens website for downloads of demoversions, updates and upgrades.
     Demo software , upgrades/updates, Drivers

3.) Online Product Support of LOGO!.
     Product Support

On my return from foreign soil, I heard about a case - My guys sent back a perfectly good LOGO (OBA8 FS4) just because they were having trouble getting the PLC to work on V8.0 of the software.

The scary thing is, I do not even think the local Siemens office knew what was the matter either.

I knew that V8.1 existed as I "happened" to know about the Modbus TCP being available on the current generation LOGO.

C'est la vie - what else is there to say.

I'm sorry, but I can not offer you more information because Siemens provides the information for updates or upgrades differently.
Unfortunately learn out of the updates or upgrades more by happenstance.

A proberly changelog for updates or Upgrades doesn't came from Siemens.

Especially not for firmware updates. Since the firmware of a LOGO! can't be updated, you only learn out when you buy a new LOGO! and reading the firmware version as to whether it has changed.

And no, I'm not a Siemens employee.
